We follow the syllabus of the RYA and ITY, but keep the classroom theory time to a minimum, we maximize the hand on sailing, theory is given prior to departure and on board.
This is a different approach than most other sailing schools take. Our classroom is the brilliant Andaman Sea, and we’ll make sure you learn a lot in a relaxed manner and have fun also.
The instructors are the same skippers who work on our ‘’normal’’ charters, they know the hospitality business , understand you are on holiday also, and are certainly no drill sergeants. |

The boats we use are all catamarans, great platforms to learn to sail on, when you can sail a cat., you can sail a mono hull, not the other way round.
We have two types of catamarans, the Firefly fast and responsive and already sails in the lightest of wind. Firefly ideal for 4 students max. The other cats are Summerhavens, 35ft ideal for the courses in which overnighters are required, they sleep 6 comfortable.
Safety first, plus preventive thinking and acting makes sailing one of the very best things you can do in your free time, the feeling of freedom is unmatched. |

| 1- Introduction to Sailing |
Designed for those who have never sailed before, the course length can be varied, for example:
- 1 day on the Firefly - Or
- 1 day on the Firefly, and 2 days including an overnighter on the Summerhaven - Or
- 2 days on the FireflyYou can put your own package together. |
| Usually the guests want to try out sailing with a bit of instruction, how to steer a boat, learn the names of the various lines we use on boats, learn important knots, learn some sailing maneuvers, enjoy the surroundings, and a night at anchor, makes it complete. |

| 2- Competent crew assistant skipper |
The set up of this course is for those who have done some sailing, and want some serious instruction.
Minimum time is 3 days, 1 day on the Firefly and an overnight (2days) on the Summerhaven.
Or 2 days on the Firefly and one day on the Summerhaven.
In this course we handle everything necessary to be a competent crew, passage planning, weather and tidal information, rules of the road, safety, anchoring, map reading, navigation, helming on all points of sail, man over board maneuvers, reading the wind direction. Preparing the boat for departure, reducing sail.
3 days is the bare minimum, but this depends on your previous experience. |

| 3 -Coming back to Sailing brush up course |
Ideal for those who have been sailing a lot, but that is years ago.
You are a bit ‘’rusty’’, a bit insecure, but still want to book a bareboat charter, with us or with another charter company.
We will make sure that everything you have half forgotten comes back quickly, sailing is like cycling, you might be a bit wobbly, but after a day you are back on track.
The Summerhaven is the ideal boat for this course as she resembles the boat you will most likely book to charter.
We go through the safety aspects, man over board maneuvers, map reading, anchoring, reefing the sails, tacking and gibing, rules of the road, weather and tidal information. |

| 4- Golden Solo Sailing 21hrs |
A three day course for those who crew a lot, are good helmsman, but never had the chance to sail a boat solo. This course is designed for 4 persons, as one needs a crew of 4 to handle a Firefly and a Summerhaven.
The course is intense real sailing. In a day you will learn how to sail a Firefly safe, and weather permitting you will sail a Firefly solo at the end of this day.
We will go through all the hands on elements of helming and crewing a boat, man over board maneuvers , reefing the sails, eyeball navigation.
The second day of the course we will take out a Summerhaven , do some chart work, dead reckoning navigation, go through the reefing reducing sail procedure, man over board maneuvers, we’ll sail until sunset, anchor, have dinner on board, and the next day, the crew will sail the boat back, for insurance reasons the skipper has to stay on board, but he will not help you at all.
Our experience is that this is a fantastic course , great fun, and believe me the skipper will really not help you, so the name Golden Solo in 21hrs is more than correct. |
